What is Melamine Board?

Melamine board composition
①Surface paper is placed on the top layer of the decorative board to protect the decorative paper, making the surface of the board highly transparent after heating and pressing, hard and wear-resistant. This kind of paper requires good water absorption, white and clean, and transparent after dipping .
② Decorative paper, that is, wood grain paper, is an important part of the decorative board. It has a background color or no background color. The decorative paper printed into various patterns is placed under the surface paper and mainly plays a decorative role. This layer requires The paper has good hiding power, impregnation and printing properties.
③ Covering paper, also called titanium white paper, is generally placed under the decorative paper when making light-colored decorative boards to prevent the underlying phenolic resin from penetrating the surface. Its main function is to cover the color spots on the surface of the substrate. Therefore, good coverage is required. The above three kinds of paper are impregnated with melamine resin respectively.
④Bottom paper is the base material of the decorative board, which plays a role in the mechanical properties of the board. It is made by soaking in phenolic resin glue and drying. Disadvantages of Melamine

Melamine itself is not very toxic, relatively stable, and it is not easy to disperse toxicity after drying. Uses of Melamine Board
- Decorative finish: It can be made into fireproof, shockproof and heat-resistant laminate, brightly colored, strong, heat-resistant and pollution-resistant decorative board, used as the finish and fireproof, shockproof and heat-resistant of aircraft, ships and furniture house decoration materials.
- Coatings: Melamine is used as a crosslinking agent in acrylic, alkyd and epoxy coatings. After etherification with butanol and methanol, it can be used as a binder for advanced thermosetting coatings and solid powder coatings, and can be used to manufacture metal coatings and amino resin decorative paints for automobiles, electrical appliances, and furniture. The coating has the characteristics of bright color, strong adhesion, high hardness, aging resistance and corrosion resistance.
- Molding powder: Melamine board can be made by mixing, granulating and other processes. Non-toxic, stain-resistant, and maintains good electrical performance when wet. It can be made into insulating materials such as white shatter-resistant household utensils, sanitary ware, imitation porcelain tableware, and electrical appliances.
- Paper: After etherification with ether, it can be used as a paper treatment agent to produce anti-wrinkle, anti-shrinkage, moisture-proof, non-corrosion banknotes, military maps and other papers.
- Mixing melamine formaldehyde resin with other raw materials can also produce fabric finishing agents, leather tanning agents, polishing agents and waterproofing agents, rubber adhesives, high-efficiency cement water reducing agents, steel nitriding agents, etc.
Combustion-supporting principle The nitrogen in melamine will release nitrogen gas at high temperature, so melamine is used as a flame retardant for polyurethane foam. Melamine glue and urea-formaldehyde glue have the characteristics of strong adhesion, water resistance and heat resistance.
